Nestled in the Santa Rita Hills AVA of Santa Barbara County, our vineyard’s distinctive terroir and cool climate conditions make it quite perfect for our pinot noir and chardonnay vines to bear exceptional fruit.

For hundreds of years, the sandy loom soil on level blocks of land have captured the minerals that flow down from the green hills. One of the only two east-west valleys in California, the fog rolls off the Pacific Ocean in the evening and rolls back out during the day. The cool nights and early mornings combined with the warm days has transformed Santa Rita Hills into one of the finest AVA regions in the world for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Strange Family Vineyards’ commitment to sustainable organic farming and investment in a careful pruning process make the quality of the grapes the starting point of every wine.

The World’s top Champagne or “Sparkling Wine” as it is called in California, use Pinot Noir or Chardonnay grapes, or a combination of both. Our Santa Rita Hills winery and vineyard’s unique proximity to the ocean creates variations in temperature which provide an opportunity to pick the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at perfect PH and sugar levels enabling us to create the finest sparkling wine grapes.
